If you are ever receiving difficult information or if someone is confiding with you about something difficult, your only job is to listen and to validate their experience and let them know they are safely held in your arms. That is all. Just make it about them and their experience. And ask them ‘How can I support you?’ How can I support you is one of the kindest, most empathetic, empathetic phrases you can use in any situation. And letting people know that it’s okay. Your feelings matter, your experience is valid, I believe you, tell me more.

Today’s episode is a very special one featuring one of our best friends and favorite people, Samantha Louise Marett, the abstract artist behind Samantha Louise Designs and mental health advocate. Expect a lot of random laughs, and a lot of deep dives into several *uncomfortable* topics that really equip us with tools and resources to be better humans.

We chat about her experience being diagnosed with bipolar and how this has transcended into the importance educating others about mental health, empathy and understanding when having difficult conversations, how to best show up for your self especially during these uncertain times, her upcoming collection called “Covered Up” in collaboration with sexual assault survivors, and the importance of voting with our dollars and creating spaces that support inclusivity and marginalized communities.
