“I never expected to get into coffee long term. Coffee is romantic. I fell in love with how crafty and precise it was as it was equally complex. Coffee could be that one thing to a person that either complete or begins their day. It’s an experience within the coffee shop.No matter the situation, as soon as I get behind bar, it’s always better when I start work. The most rewarding part is meeting the people and being a part of that experience for them. I’m proud of who I’ve become just from working at a coffee shop. It’s more than a cup of coffee to me. After meeting Gerardo at WestBean Coffee inside Liberty Public Market, he's been nothing but genuine and engaging with us and has been kind enough to sit down with us and enjoy a cup of coffee at Communal Coffee. He is a man of many talents and bares a lot of himself through a simple conversation as your barista and even as your friend. We are looking forward to following his journey in finding the right university and seeing where his coffee career takes him (which we imagine to be very far!). He's currently on a CA Coast roadtrip checking out different universities as we speak and we are so excited to see where he ends up!He is wise among his years and we encourage anyone that meets him to have a coffee and conversation. You'd be surprised as to what you'd learn not only about him but about anything!
